Study in France
Semester and year international in France: What you need to know
An increasing number of international students have chosen France for their higher education studies. Studying in France not only lets you experience the local culture by yourself, it also ensures you internationally recognized degrees and tremendous working experiences in Europe, which is a major asset in one’s resume.
International students often say “But I don’t speak French”!
All programs at American Business College Paris are taught exclusively in English. While this ensures you’ll be able to follow your courses without issue, we strongly recommend learning at least basic French before you arrive. A working knowledge of the language will be invaluable for internships, job opportunities, and day-to-day life in Paris.
Is studying in France expensive?
French higher education is known for its quality and affordability. All students, regardless of nationality, pay the same tuition and receive equal benefits, including social security and mandatory medical insurance—about 60% of medical costs are covered by the government. Optional insurance can cover the rest.
Students staying over two months can apply for housing subsidies, often covering up to half the rent. They also have the legal right to work part-time, gaining both income and experience. Various student discounts are widely available.
While our students receive plenty of support, it’s important to keep in mind that Paris is an expensive city to live in. That’s why we recommend securing reliable funding—either from yourself or a parent—of €1,000 to €1,200 per month, not including tuition fees.

Why should you study in France?
The French higher education system is well-established, consisting of a three-year Licence (Bachelor’s degree), followed by a two-year Master’s degree, and a three-year Doctorate (PhD).
Studying in France offers an inspiring experience, especially in such a vibrant, multicultural environment. It’s also the perfect way to immerse yourself in the French art de vivre—a lifestyle that embraces literature, gastronomy, cinema, and museums as part of everyday life.
